Why is it so easy to move a Frontpoint security system?
It’s all about DIY
Frontpoint is a DIY security system—meaning you purchased the sensors and placed them in your home. That also means you can remove those sensors and transfer them to your new residence! It is as simple as calling Frontpoint Customer Support to let them know you are moving. They will work with you to take your system offline during the transition and then activate the system again in the new location.
Note: As you take down your sensors, we recommend using a thin tool, such as a putty knife or dental floss, to loosen the adhesive. This will prevent damage to surfaced or painted walls.
DIY security systems also allow you to customize your new home by adding sensors, rather than needing to buy a whole new system. When moving into a larger home, commonly added security devices are door and window sensors, motion sensors, indoor cameras, and outdoor cameras.
You may also want to consider additional environmental sensors to protect your new home from fires, carbon monoxide, and water leaks!
Cellular tech makes things easy
We build digital cellular radio into every system we provide, so you never have to worry about having a phone line—or about a burglar cutting your phone line to take out your security. Once you get to your new location, we just need to make sure you have a cellular signal there. And remember, we usually only need one “bar” of coverage, since your Frontpoint system uses a low-frequency signal. It's incredibly rare that we don't have coverage since we use several cellular networks to maximize our coverage. Call customer support to test your signal strength as you search for new homes.
Take your Frontpoint home security system with you when you move
Here’s one reason why Frontpoint has the highest customer retention of any alarm company in the United States: almost every one of our customers who moves takes their Frontpoint system with them. We make it easy, and our customers love their interactive services. In fact, once you get used to a Frontpoint system, it’s hard to give it up!
Another consideration for when you move is the decision to register your security camera with the police. Read our blog to learn more about the pros and cons.
