How to Prepare Your Alarm System for Winter

Since fall has started, it’s a great time to give your system a good checkup. The colder season brings higher risks of fires, leaks and freezing pipes, which makes it necessary to make sure everything is running properly. Don’t worry, you won’t have to do anything elaborate. Maintenance of your Frontpoint system is very simple. Here are a couple easy steps you can take to prep your system for fall.

Replace the Batteries

Many homeowners wait too long to replace their batteries, only doing so when they hear the system report “low battery.” Although sensor batteries can last and be replaced in the recommended 3-5 years, it doesn’t hurt to change them every year. Check Sensor Positioning

Have you rearranged your furniture recently? It might be a good idea to take a look at your sensors to see if they’re still in optimal positions. Key sensors to pay attention to are the Motion and Image Sensors. They should have a clear line of sight of the room you’re trying to protect. Keep an eye out for any chairs that might be in the way, and if you’re planning using the fireplace, make sure the sensors aren’t pointed at it.

Yearly Maintenance
