Valentines Day and Frontpoint Security Products
Why we love our customers—and why they love us right back!
Romeo and Juliet. Paris and Helen of Troy. Marc Antony and Cleopatra. These couples from literature, mythology, and history represent some of the greatest love stories of all time—but they all ended in tragedy. The love between Frontpoint Security and our customers may not be as famous or poetic, but it’s undoubtedly real. And unlike those star-crossed lovers, this relationship has a happy ending.
For the past 14 years, we’ve revolutionized the home security industry by providing easy-to-install DIY smart security systems, the most advanced technology, and the best customer service in the industry. Now, we’re ready to take our products and services to the next level.
Here’s why the relationship between Frontpoint and our customers may yet be seen as a love story for the ages:
The most advanced home security technology meets the modern smart home
Frontpoint’s products and services were developed to provide the best possible home security, but with an eye toward the unlimited potential of a truly "smart" home. The keys to all of this are the Frontpoint Hub and its ability to control individual Z-Wave devices.
All of our core security sensors can be integrated with other smart home devices that also broadcast and receive Z-Wave signals—low-energy radio waves encrypted on a dedicated channel. Wireless Z-Wave technology works similar to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, but it has several advantages in a modern smart home.
Z-Wave has a longer range than Bluetooth, and there is none of the common lag seen while connecting certain Bluetooth devices. And unlike Wi-Fi, Z-Wave does not need an always-on internet connection, and it uses far less power. This means that Z-Wave devices can operate independently of plug-in power, and many have batteries that last as long as 5 to 10 years, depending on the device. Z-Wave also won’t interfere with a home’s existing Wi-Fi network.
Why does all this matter?
Strong home security is the priority, but enjoying the conveniences of a smart home isn’t far behind. Our customers can integrate up to 80 security sensors and 232 separate Z-Wave devices into the system—and the Frontpoint Hub, mobile App, and online portal can control all of this equipment.
So, in addition to Frontpoint’s Door/Window Sensors, Glass Break Sensors, Motion Sensors, and various environmental sensors, our customers can add and control everything from smart thermostats and lights to smart window blinds and water shutoff valves. Plus, our Wireless Light Controls act like smart plugs, meaning that any “dumb” appliance with a standard plug can become “smart.”
There are over 2,600 Z-Wave products on the market today, and they can integrate with a Frontpoint system. To learn more about Z-Wave and how it powers a smart home, read our blog on integrating z-wave devices with your Frontpoint system.

Check out these numbers and accolades:
- Frontpoint currently has an average rating of 7/5 stars based on 6,511 reviews at Trustpilot.
- Over 36 months, Frontpoint received only 42 negative customer service reviews through the Better Business Bureau (BBB)—far fewer than our competitors. By comparison, Protect America received 447 negative customer service reviews, Vivint received 3,471, and ADT received 4,266.
- Money magazine named Frontpoint one of “The Best Home Security Systems for 2020,” calling our system “a practical DIY setup for homeowners right out of the box.”
- Consumer Reports lauded Frontpoint as “easy to set up and use” and noted that our “system has more components than most.”
- S. News & World Report ranked us among “The Best Home Security Systems of 2020,” rating Frontpoint the “Best overall system, balancing DIY installation with professional-quality components.”
Out-of-the-box setup and installation
In the past, wired home security systems required a professional installer to drill a bunch of holes and run a ton of wires. This was incredibly inconvenient and meant that adding home security involved a significant investment in time as well as money.
Thankfully, most of the industry has moved away from this model toward offering wireless DIY installation. Wireless sensors and cellular systems mean that no drilling, phone landlines, or wires are required. But Frontpoint still stands out from competitors who offer DIY systems because our systems are the easiest to install in the industry.
Frontpoint systems arrive 100% pre-programmed to work right out of the box. It makes setting up some devices as easy as setting them on a shelf, while you can place others on a wall with double-sided adhesive tape.
And while some of our competitors also claim to offer out-of-the-box functionality, this isn’t always true: users must meticulously “learn” various devices into those systems to get them working—which takes time and effort. Frontpoint’s Hub and components, however, are already programmed to recognize each other; just place the sensors and other devices where you want them, set up your preferences in the app or portal, and you’re ready to go.
A Frontpoint system only takes about 30 minutes to install!
A spotless privacy track record
The news is saturated with reports of some high-profile home security companies being hacked—but you haven’t seen the word Frontpoint mentioned. We are proud of our spotless privacy track record that reflects our relentless focus on safeguarding our customers.
Our professional monitoring service never views camera feeds, and footage is protected by 256-bit AES encryption, which is a protocol used by U.S. banks and the military to safeguard sensitive information. This encryption scrambles data transmitted by the camera, and the video can only be unscrambled with a user's specific digital key. Also, all of Frontpoint's camera streams and device commands are sent via a high-security virtual private network (VPN), meaning that even if someone were to hack your home network, they couldn’t do anything with the scrambled data.
All of our Z-Wave devices also send encrypted data, making it nearly impossible for hackers to interrupt any relevant security-sensor notifications or commands from the Hub. And the password protection measures on our App and customer portal mean that if you have a strong password—and don’t give it out—no one will be able to access or control your system except you.

Advanced Frontpoint technology
As technology evolves and new and better capabilities become available, we continuously improve the Frontpoint system and our customer experience.
Our Outdoor Camera has low-light recording capability, a high dynamic range (HDR), a 117° field of view, and an IP66 rating, meaning it’s tightly protected against dust and even powerful jets of water.
The Frontpoint Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engine provides insights about your home’s security and daily routine like never before. The system automatically learns patterns of how it is used and generates "unexpected activity alerts" to let you know when something unusual happens. For example, if you expect your kids to arrive home after band practice at 5 p.m., but a Smart Door Lock isn’t opened with their unique code, the system can send you a mobile alert.
Plus—and this is perhaps the coolest new feature—we’ve introduced advanced video analytics that give you smarter surveillance capabilities. In combination with the AI Engine, this security feature can distinguish between normal events and things that require your attention. It can tell the difference between a person, an animal, a car, or another object, and sense whether the behavior of an individual, pet, or vehicle is normal, or something you need to know about.
For example, your Frontpoint Outdoor Camera can let you know when a vehicle parks in front of your house while ignoring cars that drive by. It will ignore the mailman who quickly drops off a package but send you an alert if someone—potentially a burglar who is casing the home—lingers near the porch. And footage from the Indoor Camera or Premium Indoor Camera can be analyzed and let you know if pets are being really bad—such as Fluffy breaking into your pantry or jumping the indoor security gate.
Video analytics even let you create virtual zones and tripwires for different cameras with different analysis rules, and allow you to turn on lights automatically when cameras see something odd, such as a person entering your backyard.
